In August the CAT volunteer team gathered feedback on the CAT newsletter. We received feedback on what is covered in the newsletter, what’s useful (and what isn’t), when it is sent out and more.
We’ve collated your responses and will be making a few tweaks and changes to the newsletter based on your feedback.
What you told us
- That you’re broadly happy with the newsletter content but it can be a little long
- That you trust us to share what is important
- That there can be too much repetition between what’s in the newsletter and what’s in the Slack channel
- That the jobs section is useful
- That the newsletter could be easier to navigate
We’ve got great foundations to build upon which is brilliant news but also provides a challenge. How do we make changes to something that already works quite well?
What we are changing
Based on the feedback and some internal workshops, we’ve decided to experiment with some changes in the coming months, summarised as follows.
- We are going to bring more editorial rigour to the newsletter.
- You told us that you trust the team to tell you what’s important. We’re taking that lovely feedback to heart and will share content on a theme or a few themes in each edition.
- This means a little more work for the CAT content team. As a result the newsletter will now be biweekly rather than weekly.
- Moving to one newsletter every two weeks gives us more time to digest and curate what we share.
- Each newsletter will get a short introduction and links to relevant sections to allow subscribers to get to what they need quickly.
What comes next?
The next newsletter will be published on Tuesday 6th October with subsequent issues following every two weeks. Each issue will be curated by a different member of the content team and we might get in touch with CATs from time to time to get expert advice and input.
What CATs can do to help
Get involved!
Constructive feedback of the changes will be welcomed and acted upon where appropriate. If you have news, resources, reports or anything else that you think will be of interest to the CAT community, please share it with us for future issues.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you over the coming months.
